OK there were some debates online about burning at faster speeds. Mostly people continually say faster speeds makes the laser work harder when trying to read it. No one really knew where these claims came from. One person said there are small errors in the burn and the error correction can fix it on the fly which causes the laser to work harder. He pointed me to a program called Nero DiscSpeed that can test for these errors. I wanted to see for myself so I did a little test. The specs are as follows:
Both burns completed with no problems and passed a verify pass.
At a glance it appears the 16x graph is better, but if you look close at the numbers on the left side the 6x has about 25% less errors towards the end of the run. This occurs because at the start both discs burn at the same speed but when they reach 6x, one does not get any faster of a burn and one continues to ramp up speed.
